A team of seven employees from SA Group successfully completed the Atlantic Coast Ultra Marathon last week, raising money and awareness for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).
Now in its 18th year, the event took the team 78.6 miles along the South West Coast path, through wild and rugged terrain and up and down steep climbs and descents over three days. The sunny weather perfectly complemented the stunning scenery along the way.
The team were met with unique challenges and landmarks each day, contributing to the exciting yet extremely challenging nature of the event.
Karen Briddon, Financial Controller at SA Group was one of the team that participated in the marathon.
“This is my first year doing the Atlantic Coast Challenge and I would encourage anyone to take part. It was the ultimate mental and physical challenge and I’m so glad I did it. The breathtaking views kept me going. It was great to meet other like-minded people who have been taking part in this event for several years. I’m extremely proud of the team for raising awareness and money for such a great cause. Bring on 2024!”
Robin White, Compliance Manager at SA Group also took part.
“From a personal perspective, I found the North Atlantic Coastal Challenge a very arduous and challenging event, like it says in the title. There was a great team spirit from all those who took part, giving each other encouragement. The weather was kind to us and the views were breathtaking along the whole route. Parts of the route were more suited to a mountain goat though! All in all, a very enjoyable experience with only one little blister to show for it.”
So far, we have raised an impressive £2110 for the RNRMC, but there’s still time to donate.
