Parish Nursing is a whole people centred approach to caring for people within the community of all ages and backgrounds with any faith or without. Parish nurse works alongside the NHS and is not there to replace it. The nurses involved in the project are Registered General Nurse who have a wealth of experience. All nurses are currently on the register and maintain their professional standards with the NMC through revalidation. There are currently over 100 parish nurses in the U.K., 90% are volunteers. How they differ is their approach to people, they have the ability to care for their Spiritual, Mental, Physical and Emotional needs in a more diverse and creative way. This benefits the person by improving their health and wellbeing.
The service aims to meet the needs of the local community for people . To improve the health and well being, by caring for their mind body and spirit. We would use dynamic and creative ways to interact with the local community in a creative and dynamic way.
In January 2017 we are launching the service with a weekly drop in clinic held at Calne Methodist Church from Monday 9th January from 1-3pm. The parish nurse will also be available at Tots and Dots toddler group, Penn Court residential home once per month. I have made links with The Rise family centre where we hope to work together on a number of projects together.
