Come one, come all! Chippenham’s Vintage Carnival is almost here!
The countdown is on to Chippenham Vintage Carnival 2018 on Saturday 14th July, organised by Chippenham Connected in partnership with Chippenham Town Council and supported by Faresaver Buses. The line-up is packed out and promises an exciting day of community fun in the heart of Chippenham, at Island Park, with a huge array of activities for all from 12-8pm.
From the start of the day at 12pm, there will be an enticing array of market stalls in Island Park from local businesses, artisan sellers and tempting food outlets. Among a delicious spread of sweet and savoury dishes from around the world from over 10 stalls; local restaurant Café India will be serving up a range of eastern delights while Chippenham’s own Magpie will be on site selling some of their truly beautiful antique and vintage goodies.
Mayor of Chippenham, Councillor Andy Phillips said, “I am very much looking forward to this marvellous community event for Chippenham. There will be so many fun activities and entertainment for all the family all taking place in the centre of town.”
Chippenham Dancing Academy is set to open the day’s events with a special stage performance in Island Park and throughout the day there’ll be a range of live music from talented local artists such as Chippenham Ukuleles & Chippenham Rock Choir, a touch of laughter from Chippenham Comedy Club plus classic showtunes from CLOGETTES musical theatre group amongst others.
With so much going on in Island Park, visitors will be able to spend the whole day experiencing all the fun of the fair. Alongside children’s rides and funfair stalls, there’ll be a climbing wall and zip wire for those feeling more adventurous. Or for some more gentle relaxing fun, guests are invited to sit back and take it all in in the picnic zone before trying their hand at circus skills including juggling and unicycling.
The day will close with the traditional carnival procession. Running from 7-8pm, over 20 groups, clubs, societies and businesses will be touring Chippenham’s town centre. Joined by this year’s Carnival Royalty which have been sponsored by Emery Gate Shopping Centre, the procession will be made up of a range of walkers and floats supported by buses from event sponsors, Faresaver.
Kathryn Crosweller of Chippenham Connected said, “This year’s procession is looking really exciting, with entries ranging from two brand new Teslas from Aaron and Jonathan Bewley Funeral Directors to White Horse Samba band and everything in between!”
