The growing town will be the host to ‘The Ruze,’ the latest venue to accommodate the growing music scene in Chippenham and its surrounding areas.
On Monday 3rd March, construction and renovations have commenced in Chippenham’s Artisan Quarter for a new multi-purpose venue called ‘The Ruze.’ This new cultural hub is aiming to open at the end of Summer 2025 for local musicians to perform live as well as producing new material.
Following on from the COVID-19 pandemic and the closure of music and club venues in surrounding areas, The Ruze aims to offer a new space where local creative groups and individuals can connect and grow. Alongside live music events and a recording studio, the upcoming creative hub has plans to host corporate events, community workshops, weddings and Christmas parties for the residents and businesses in the market town. The project was first an idea by two Chippenham locals who have vast experience in the music industry both on and off the stage and a love for previous local venues such as Goldiggers.
The building itself will promote an eco-conscious design; utilising sustainable energy sources such as air-to-air heat pumps and solar panels, as well as retaining the existing walls and floor slabs of the original structure to minimise the carbon emissions of the build itself. Along with this, the centre’s location proves accessible with its proximity to the train station and several main bus routes, overall providing a space that is both adaptable, technologically advanced and environmentally mindful.
Jacob Roos, Co-Founder of The Ruze says: “The recent loss of Moles in Bath was devastating to the music scene in Wiltshire and Somerset, and it is not the first time we have seen these types of closures. Our goal is to create a vibrant venue that supports both emerging and established artists while fostering a thriving community space for music lovers.”
Steve Bent, Co-Founder of The Ruze added; “As we lay the foundations – both physically and within the community – we invite artists, businesses, and creatives to be part of this journey as we bring The Ruze to life. We are committed to hitting the ground running when we officially open this year, and we can’t wait for everyone to be involved!”
