Local Alzheimer’s Support worker Jacqui Churchyard received a Christmas gift to remember when she was selected as guest of honour at Churchill Retirement Living’s Festive Cheer event at St Andrew’s Lodge in Chippenham this week.
Jacqui was nominated as a ‘Festive VIP’ by friends at the development, who felt that she deserved a treat this Christmas in recognition of her impressive dedication to helping others in the community.
The event on Tuesday 12th December included festive drinks, Christmas Carols from the St Mary’s School Choir, and a special Christmas hamper and £100 M&S voucher for Jacqui, who joined the festivities along with her Alzheimer’s Support colleague Sarah Cave.
Churchill’s ‘Festive Cheer’ initiative had asked people up and down the country to nominate someone who deserved to be rewarded for their volunteering or charity work this year, or someone who is lonely or has faced some hard times, or simply a loved one who deserves to be spoiled this Christmas.
Apartment Owner Philip Redeyoff, who nominated Jacqui for the award, said: “Jacqui has become an Alzheimer’s Support Worker since she retired, and is a companion to my wife a couple of hours a week. She is a reliable and sympathetic person who cares, along with a wicked sense of humour. She makes a real difference to our lives, and we’re delighted to see her get this recognition.”
Churchill’s Marketing Manager Caroline Haswell added: “Our Festive Cheer events were designed to spread some seasonal magic, and we’re delighted to have done that for Jacqui here in Chippenham, she is certainly a very deserving winner.”
Churchill provides purpose-built one and two bedroom privately-owned apartments for the over 60s, set amongst attractive landscaped gardens.
