We have over 40 events running throughout August, from old favourites Petticoat Lane, Open Gardens and Carnival Quiz, to a wine tour at Bow in the Cloud and Flower Crown workshop hosted by Persephone Violet. We haven’t forgotten our younger fans, with a Fossil and Dinosaur dig and creative writing workshops. Visit our website or Malmesbury Tourist Information Centre for more information and to buy tickets.
Let’s not forget the reason we work so hard to bring the Carnival and Festival to Malmesbury, not only to continue the 90 year history and bring the community together, but also to raise funds for local good causes. Last year some £17,000 was donated by Carnival to local organisations including Sunny Days Preschool; Heals; Malmesbury Youth FC; Wiltshire Mind and Luckington School.
Now would be a good time to mention the support and financial input of our major sponsors without whose interest and enthusiasm many of the key events of the carnival and festival would be difficult to put on. The committee, and the volunteers too, deserve a special mention, as so much depends on their hard work and enthusiasm in ensuring that everything goes smoothly.
So, this year’s Carnival and Festival is upon us and is heavily dependent upon your good selves and your interest and participation. Nearly everyone turns out for the carnival procession which marks the end of the month long celebration in our wonderful town.
In this our first year as your new Carnival committee we would like as many of YOU
as possible, to wear something on your
heads to show that you are part of
CARNIVAL !!
SO COME ON – DRESS IT UP A BIT and support CARNIVAL. Let’s fill the streets with: Toppers, Cowboys, Policemen, Berets, Feathers, Fascinators, Pirates, Clowns and Glitter or just invent something new!
