Halloween will officially start in Swindon this year with the return of pumpkin picking at Lotmead Pick Your Own this October.
From Saturday 7th October, Lotmead’s iconic spooky tunnel returns as the entrance to the pumpkins field, where pumpkin pickers will have one of the largest choices of pumpkins in the town across the PYO’s large pumpkin field. With a variety of sizes and types of pumpkins available, plus gourds and squashes, those who are ghoulish at heart will be able to kick off the spooky season with gusto.
Lotmead, which has been a firm family favourite day out in Swindon for over 40 years, has recently been taken over by Paul Keene, with David Baird, joining him as Farm Manager. Paul has successfully run Primrose Vale Farm Shop and Pick Your Own in Cheltenham for the last 25 years, growing it to be Gloucestershire’s top pick your own, play area and farm shop, stocked with an exciting range of locally sourced produce.
Paul explained: “We are delighted to have taken over the running of Lotmead PYO. Lotmead has a solid reputation as a great family day out in Swindon and beyond and we have got exciting plans to build upon the great work over the last 40 years and bring new and exciting events and opportunities to the PYO.
“However, as much as there’s change in the plans, at the moment we hope to make the transition completely seamless for our customers and we will continue to run the PYO as it has been. This means that pumpkin picking and Halloween fun will stay just as we know Swindon loves it this year, with a variety of different sized pumpkins, squashes and gourds available, and plenty of spooky inspiration, photo opportunities and fun to get everyone in the Halloween spirit.
“Ghouls and ghosts of all shapes and sizes are very welcome to come and pick their locally grown pumpkins. This year there is no booking, just turn up and well-behaved dogs on leads are very welcome to join in with the fun too.”
Lotmead is open daily from 9.30am with last entry at 4.30pm. For more information and to see the latest information and offers, visit www.lotmead.co.uk or find Lotmead PYO on social media @lotmeadfarm
